OOC information
Name: Dieter
Age: 28
Nationality: Belgian
Experience with WoW: How long have you played? What do you know of Warcraft lore? Highest leveled character? Roleplay experience also..
My main used to be a priest on a PVP realm with which I raided for 3 years as holy, with the occasional Shadow or Disc spec. I also leveled a warrior tank on that server (almost lvl 80) and a lvl 60-something AoE grinding frostmage (back in TBC, it still required skill ). I'm not trained in PvP, doing little more than the occasional battleground. I tried Arena, but couldn't fit it in my agenda combined with raiding.
I always felt I 'missed' the RP feeling of the game. As I burned up on raiding, I chose to 'finally' make the step towards RP a few weeks ago. So, I still lack thorough RP experience apart from what I've read from several stickies and articles on fora, blogs and wikis. This taught me the basics, ('not to godmode', 'describe' myself etc), but it is no secret that I am still new to RP and it risks showing every now and then. I can understand that for a full fledged RP guild such as yours this may seem a bit a jump in the dark to take on a new recruit with my limited RP experience. If you feel unsure, by all means, feel free to scout me out and take all the time you need.
I can promise dedication to work on my RP abilities, and I will listen to suggestions. But should I prove not sufficient yet, feel free to let me know where I stand and I'll return when I've worked on those points
My knowledge of WoW lore is somewhat limited to what the main storyline (+Warcraft 3) and what wowwiki teaches me. I'm still reading in the Lore section of the official wow site. If you feel I should read/learn more, just tell me the topics and I'll wiki/google them. I have already been reading the wiki about the light, the humans, the church, northshire abbey and of course... the defias wiki about this guild.
How did you hear of us?: general/trade/recruitment channel? Friend? Current member? Observed roleplay? Forums? etc.
I had hear of this guild as one of the 'lawfully good' and holy guilds but it wasn't untill I read the recruitment topic on DefiasRP Forum that I checked out the guild. Rentarn has been kind enough to answer a few questions about the guild and I have taken my time to read your forum's stickies (and some discussions) to learn more about your guild.
Do you know anyone in the guild already? if so, how? did you roleplay with them?
I had a brief encounter with Rentarn but I'm not sure if that could be considered sufficient as indication. By all means, feel free to search the frail-looking librarian-like priest near Cathedral
Before I end my OOC section, I just want to note that while I will work fo this application, I am in no rush. The previous guild I joined (and helped found) I stayed in for over 3 years. It is taught me it is best to take time, and to make sure the match is good rather than rush in blindly and end up disappointed. Hence, if you have any doubts or points I should work on before continuing this application, feel free to throw them at me. I'm willing to invest the time and effort required to become a good candidate.

I write about my character here: darmagnac.livejournal.com/
The reason I started writing was to train my writing, keeping track of my character's history and help me to live into my character's world and life. I am not a gifted writer and my character is not the most 'heroic' person out there, so I cannot promise an eventfull read.
Short Piece of writing [Optional]: In the hope of having a slightly more eventfull story I wrote an introductory story to my alt (an old Mage) for this application.
Slowly, the small caravan crawled along the mountain pass in the woods. Two small chariots and a pack of six mules, guided by two herders was all that carried any goods. The company was protected by six horsemen in the front and four horsemen in the back, though every driver and herder had at least a minimum of arms. In one chariot the night guards were resting. The other chariot contained a special guest... Remy, leading of the caravan, rode in the middle, moving to the front and back to issue orders as they went. Remy did not know his special guest and keeping a suspicious eye on the chariot. There was power in this man that could not be seen. He was sure of it. The man wore plain clothes and seemed deprived of the physical strength he once had, but he kept a determined look and did not seem the least impressed when the guards were demonstrating their weaponskills before the trip.
A bird sang a loud tune in the distance. Immediately Remy shouted to increase the pace. He turned around and issued orders to the rear guard and woke up the night guards in the second chariot. With a loud crash a tree fell down from the high side of the mountain and blocked the road. The company was brought to a halt. From the high side of the mountain, a loud noise of shouting men and swords clanging could be heard. The herders took their short swords in panic and with trembling hands they faced the danger.
Remy spurred his horse to the other chariot and lifted the sail, to find the old man staring back at him in surprise.
"We'll soon be under attack, mr Hedgewizzard. If there is any power in you, I think it is time to come forth."
The old but tall man stood up with some vigor still, bending his back as not to hit his head on the top frame. He looked down at Remy.
"My name, master Remy, is Jean-Claude d'Armagnac and I am not a hedge wizzard. But how did you guess my magic abilities?"
Remy smiled grimly.
"I stole some sips of your beercup yesterday behind your back. Chilled beer is a rare luxury when traveling, master wizzard."
"Nor am I a master wizzard... but that debate will have to wait."
Jean-Claude stepped out and inspected the situation. Armed men came running out of the trees, yelling a loud warcry. They were poorly armored, but that did not make their swords less deadly. Remy's sword sent a high ringing sound in the air as it was unsheated.
"Wait", shouted Jean-Claude, "cover the low side! They might send rogues to sneak among our troops. Send the herders to hew the tree. I'll cover this side."
Remy nodded and spurred his horse forward, gesturing orders. One of the rear guards came running to Jean-Claude, sword ready for the fight.
Jean-Claude closed his eyes and extended an arm. A flame burst on the ground and fast as lightning it spread accross the ground, following the side of the road. He lifted his hand the flames rose in the air for twenty feet high and roared like thunder. The horses neighed in fear and the drivers had their hands busy keeping them under the control. Soldiers who stood close to the edge of the road sprang back at in surprise and fear.
Jean-Claude put his hand on his neck and with an unnaturally loud voice he threatened the attackers,
"Your souls will burn for all eternity if you step through!". He released his neck and turned to the fear stricken soldier,
"Quickly move to the front and assist freeing our way. It never takes long before they realise it's an illusion."
"Illusion?" the soldier stammered and with wide open eyes he ran of to the front. In the front the clanging of swords could be heard. Some had turned around the edges of the flame wall or come from below. But with only a small front to attack and six well armed horsemen holding that front, they wouldn't be able to overwhelm the caravan.
Jean-Claude peered at the burning wall. "There's always a first one", he thought, as his brow started to sweat.
"Your pathetic tricks will not stop me sorcerer!", a loud voice boomed accross the fire. Suddenly a huge man jumped through, unscathed by the flames. He had pitch black long hair bound to tail. He had a big metal ring in this nose and a very wicked grin as he saw the wizzard. In the blink of an eye, Jean-Claude waved his hand and a fire blasted in front of the man, knocking his burning body back through the flames. He could be heard screaming accross the flame wall and loud curses responded from the attackers, locked out from their pray by the flame wall. Jean-Claude's brow started to sweat more heavily and he gasped for breath. The flame wall started to flicker.
"Not as strong as I used to be" he said to himself, gasping for breath.
With great resolve he blew in the direction of the wall, where the big man had been sent burning, producing a great wind that spread the stench of burned flesh and hair amongst the attackers. He fell on his knees, gasping for breath and again the flame wall diminished in strength. Putting his hand on his neck again he shouted,
"You shall pay dearly for every step you take." Shouts, curses and taunts responded but nobody stepped through the flames. How long it would hold them off, he could not tell. He wasn't recuperating. The illusion was sapping his strength as he kept breathing deeply from exhaustion.
The loud horn was heard in the distance again. The noise at the front stopped and Remy came running back on his horse. "They called off the attack. You scared them off." Barely a breath left in his lungs Jean-Claude replied "Good, now help me get up and back in the chariot. I have no strength left to deflect a well aimed arrow and their fear will soon end if they see me like this." Remy frowned, but jumped down his horse and helped the old man get in the chariot. It took only a few minutes for the well trained herders to chop through the tree and push away the trunk. Slowly the caravan started moving and Jean-Claude finally let go of the illusion. His vision was darkening and he felt close to passing out. As the chariots passed the hewn tree he saw one corpse laying on the ground, a guard still withdrawing his sword from its chest. Only one of the guards was harmed and he would develop a fever for weeks, retaining a scar for the rest of life. Jean-Claude looked at the hewn tree trunk and bodies. A tear rolled of his cheeck as the emotion and shock of the situation finally hit him. So close had they been to a vicious death... These attackers had not expected such a strong resistance and fled. But it was little comfort. "Such a narrow escape. I must train to regain my former strength" Jean-Claude muttered and he passed out.
Thank you for your time,
Dieter
